A fantasic walk to the allotment

Date: 11th Mar 2016 @ 12:11pm

What a wonderful walk we had to visit Mr Deasey at his allotment. We pulled on our wellies and splashed through the muddy puddles to visit him and Amelia's mum. The weather was gorgeous (much better than the snow we had when we should have visited last week) and the class were full of excitement.

Mr Deasey was brilliant. He showed us how he got the ground ready, where he makes his own compost and we saw the beans he was going to plant and how they  came from ones that didn't get eaten last year. We ventured into his greenhouse to see how the plants are started off until the frost has gone and he planted up some beans that we are going to watch growing. We then saw how some things can still grow throughout the winter- he has Kale and beet root and we dug up a beet root.

We even got to go inside his conservatory to see his lemon tree growing!

we are looking forward to our next visit to check on how the seeds are growing.

A big thank you to the Deasey family for letting us visit.
