Hat Works Visit

Date: 29th Nov 2017 @ 4:35pm

We had a great day finding out about the history of hat production in Manchester and the tools and machinery that were used throughout different time periods. We firstly went into the museum gallery and looked at a huge variety of hats from past up until present. They ranged from traditional religious hats to comedic and novelty hats!

We then completed some fun activities in the gallery before we moved onto a tour of the museum machinery. The children really enjoyed looking at the enormous machines and predicting what role they played in the hat making process. Finally we made our own patterns using different colours to make our own unique piece of felt using a traditional process.
