Our trip to the Anderton Boat Lift

Date: 9th Oct 2015 @ 2:57pm

Class 2 had a great day visiting Anderton Boat Lift.

Class 2 enjoyed their time at the boat lift learning about the structure, how it works and what it is used for. The children started their day at the visitors centre, taking part in lots of activities including; Colouring, watching an information video all about the first boat lift, looking at technical drawings and models of the boat lift and dressing up in historic clothing worn by boat lift workers!

Next it was time to take to the water!  During our boat trip down the River Weaver we were given lots of interesting facts from Mark and Robin, we even saw a heron and a kingfisher!  We finished our boat trip being lifted up 50ft to the Trent and Mersey Canal. We enjoyed eating our lunch in a marquee and spent the afternoon sketching, exploring the maze, waterways and treasure hunting.

What a fantastic day, we learnt lots of interesting things to help us with our topic work back at school.
