The Great fire of London

Date: 10th Nov 2017 @ 2:06pm

What an exciting afternoon we had yesterday. After looking at what the houses were made of at the time of the great fire we made our own recreations in pairs. We used straws to represent the thatched roof. We then took our houses outside for some real fun. We set up the houses to recreate Pudding lane. We put different materials in the houses to see what would happen once the fire started. Then we set fire to the bakery. We watched the fire spread across the houses until it reached the fire break we created like they did when they blew up houses. It was great to hear the sounds the fire made, smell the smoke and imagine how the people of London felt. We then discovered the wood, fabric and plastic would have been destroyed while the metal and brick survived.
