Visit to the Hatworks

Date: 9th Nov 2017 @ 11:26am

What a wonderful day we had on Tuesday 7th November.

We set off to the Hatworks in Stockport for our first trip of the school year.

On arrival we met Tiff who was with us for the day. We started by looking at 2 hats and discussing what they were made of. Once we knew they were felt we went off to make our own felt. The class were amazing at this as it is quite tricky but they all just got on and did a great job. After lots of rolling, pressing and squashing our felt was finished.

Next  came even more fun as we tried on some different hats, there was- work hats, weather hats and even some really fun hats, some hats were definitely more popular than others.

After a well earnt lunch we went with Tiff round the museum. We got to see lots of different hats from all around the world and had a quiz to find certain hats. Then we went to see how the hats were made, we got to see the machines and a factory workers cottage and we even watched a video about how hats Ε΅ere made. As a special treat we saw a hat block that is used to make the Queens hats.

it was a great trip and Tiff commented on how well behaved the class were, she couldn't believe how well we listened and responded to the activities especially as we're only reception and year 1!

Well done class 1
